Investigating the metabolic prints ruling plant physiology.

Less advanced than other “omics” techniques and still poised to improve over the coming years, metabolomics has nevertheless become a fundamental tool in the study of biosystems over the past 20 years.
Using several cases from my own research, I will outline the possibilities offered by metabolomics in plant physiology, both in targeted hypothesis-driven approaches and in more exploratory and systemic data-driven studies. I will notably highlight the elucidation of an important jasmonate regulation pathway, using a typical functional genomics approach, and the discovery of unexpected metabolic functions in abiotic and biotic stress situations, as part of non-targeted investigations.
As a newcomer to IPSIM, this presentation will also be the opportunity to briefly present my background and the research project I am currently developing within the Aqua team.
