Water repartition

For water, competition starts even before the rain reaches the soil: the trees reduce the amount of water accessible to crops, by intercepting part of the rain with its crown, water is then partly evaporated directly, and partly flows along the trunk and arrives only in the cell were the tree is planted.

Water competition in the soil is computed by integrating the matrix flux potentials over the whole simulated scene (De Willigen et al, 2000).
