Vitis root water uptake: fine root structure, hydraulics, and the role of aquaporins
UMR Ecophysiologie et Génomique Fonctionnelle de la Vigne Centre INRA Bordeaux-Aquitaine
Woody perennial root systems differ from those of herbaceous annuals in a number of ways. The seminar will present our studies in grape exploring the relationships between fine root structure, development, hydraulics, and the role of aquaporins. Topics will include a discussion of root hydraulics in woody perennials and herbaceous species, as well as potential difficulties including the complexity of flow pathways and the interplay between solute and water movement.
