Short and long term adaptation to light changes

Christophe Robaglia
Laboratoire de Génétique & Biophysique des Plantes / CEA-CNRS-Aix Marseille

Light is essential for plant life but excess light can also lead to numerous damage to photosystems and others cell components. I will present different mechanisms of short an long term adaptation to excess light that are under study in our laboratory. I will show how the translational apparatus respond to excess light and the role of RNA silencing in regulating anthocyanin production. Then I will show how manipulating a protection pathway against excess light can improve growth when light become limiting.
