The Biochemistry and Molecular Physiology unit (B&PMP) has long been recognized as a leader in the study of plant nutrition mechanisms. The birth of the laboratory as we know it today dates back to 1971. B&PMP has reached its 50th anniversary this year.
The beautiful age! To celebrate this event, an anniversary day was organized on November 9th in Montpellier.
A great opportunity to gather, in a friendly atmosphere, former colleagues, collaborators of the unit and regional and national representatives of the four tutelles of the unit (INRAE, CNRS, University of Montpellier, Institut Agro).
A retrospective of the scientific and institutional highlights of the unit allowed to trace its strong evolution and its constant dynamism.
The current projects of the unit underline the disciplinary broadening and the commitment of the unit to basic research in plant biology.
These projects developed on model species or those of agronomic interest deal with the major issues raised in agriculture and the environment by climate change.
Two prestigious conferences by foreign scientists (Prof. Gloria Corruzzi, New York University; Nicolaus von Wiren, IPK Gatersleben) closed this beautiful day.

On this occasion, the unit also announced that it wishes to change its name to Institut for Plant Science of Montpellier (IPSiM).
