The objective of the present post-doc will be to understand the link be biophysical properties of the ion channels of the ALMT family (Aluminum Activated Malate Transporters) and their role within the cell. We will focus on the guard cells of Arabidopsis thaliana as a model system.
Different approaches will be used. Electrophysiological techniques to investigate the molecular basis of the biophysical properties of the ALMT anion channels. Live ratiometric imaging using combined anion and pH biosensors will allow to visualize the role of these channels in the regulation of the intracellular ionic concentrations dynamics in guard cells.
The position is for two years.
We look for highly motivated candidate with a strong experience in electrophysiology and/or in ratiometric imaging. A strong interest or previous experience in plant science is appreciated.
The candidate will work in the context of an ATIP-AVENIR project « Intracellular ion flux coordination, a novel perspective on the mechanisms regulating ion transport in A. thaliana guard cells » in the group headed by De Angeli Alexis in the Biochemistry and Molecular Physiology of the plants (B&PMP) in Montpellier (France).
