Phytoseiid mite fauna in different areas surrounding vineyards in the South of France and to characterise the impact of vegetation structure on phytoseiid communities 2. The influence of different vine cultivars on phytoseiid mite diversity. Samplings have been carried out in an experimental farm located in a small area in six different vegetation structures of uncultivated zones and in surrounding vine crops, on 24 vine cultivars. Seventeen phytoseiid mite species were observed in the uncultivated areas sampled. Typhlodromus pyri and Kampimodromus aberrans were the two prevailing species encountered. The highest diversity was observed in woodland. Herbaceous areas, fallows and humid areas shared similar species. Hedges and moor land were grouped together. Some plants have been identified as good reservoirs for K. aberrans and T. pyri. The dominant species on vine crops was T. pyri except on the cv. Chenanson, colonised by K. aberrans. Hypotheses concerning mite occurrence in uncultivated and vine areas and distribution are discussed. ER -
