A collection of oribatids sampled by means of quantitative processes and extracted by Berlese-Tullgren funnels is analyzed from the systematic point of view, and some characteristics of their populations stated. Five species are recorded, of which one is new to science, Liochthonius aztstralis n. sp., and two other taxa described as new subspecies: Oppia loxolineata iVallwork, I965 longipilosa n. ssp. and Oppia pepitensis Hammer, I962 brevipectinata n . ssp.; the remaining two correspond to the more common Antarctic species Alaskozetes antarctica, and Halozetes belgicae. Data on the geographical distribution, preferencial substrates, density, relative abundance, age pyramids, sex ratio, frequency, and number of species in the samples are given for the species found.
