AB  - As the site of water vapor uptake was found to be the rectum in the firebrat, Thermobia domestica Packard., the role of the general integument for active uptake was subject to reappraisal. The sealing of the anus of adult female Dermacentor variabilis Say did not block active uptake at 93 % RH 20°. This reaffirms the general integument of the tick as the site of active uptake.
