As a matter of fact mites are very old parasites and often very specific. Specificity is more marked in permanent than in temporary parasites. The degree of specificity may be utilized in the study of the phylogeny of their hosts. Among the parasitic mites, the family Myobiidae is especially suitable for the study of the parallel evolution hosts-parasites. ER -
