Abstract
Revision of the subfamily Apoloniinae Wharton, I947. The subfamily Apoloniinae constitutes with Leeztwenhoekiinae the family Leeuwenhoekiidae. Apoloniinae involves seven species ranged in two different tribes: A - Apoloniini n . tr., with slender sensillae, containing four genera each with a single species, and distributed worldwide: Apolonia tigipioensis, on gallinaceans from South America, Vargatula hispida, on mammals from Central America, Womersia strandtmanni, on pelicanids from North Amer:ica, and of recent discovery, Straelensia ezwopaea, on canines from Europe (Bulgaria). B - Sauracarellini n. tr., with expanded sensillae, containing two african genera and three species, all found on lizards: Sattracarella whartoni and S . montana, Afracarella africana n. g. The species Bernia marita Allred and Beck, I966 is incertae sedis.
