Abstract

Rasterelektronenmikroskopische Untersuchungen zum Spinnvermogen der Bdelliden und Cunaxiden (Acari, Prostigmata). - The spinning ability of two species of Cunaxidae is described in comparison with that of Bdellidae. Molting chambers and protective nests for the eggs were observed. The silk production is also used when capturing prey. Bdellidae fasten their prey with single threads to the ground, whereas Cunaxa setirostris spins a web which consists of two different kinds of threads.
