Abstract

Ten new species of water mites from South Africa (collections of the National Institute for Water Research, Pretoria) are described: Sperchon mutatus ll. sp.; Platymamersopsis agnewi ll. sp.; Platymamersopsis chutteri n. sp.; Torrenticola distans ll. sp.; Torrenticola spinipalpis n. sp.; Pseudotorrenticola africana n. sp.; Hygrobates loricatus ll. sp.; Hygrobatractides divaricatus ll. sp.; Albia insueta n. sp.; Arrenurus bilobus n. sp. Hygrobatractides n. gen. is established. Allotypes (♀♀) of 2 known species are described: Albia injtatipalpis Cook, 1966 and Allokrendowskia dentipes continentalis K. O. Viets, 1962.
