Abstract

A new species of oribatid mite is described in this paper, under the name of Carabodes foliatus. The sensillus is a thick band, covered with thorns, with the terminal third folded up and inwards over the two proximal thirds. There are two elevated regions on the posterior side of prodorsum, each one bears a pair of protuberances on its posterior margin. The interlamellar and notogaster setae are wide, leaf-shaped, they have dentale margins, and they are covered with thorns on the upper surface.
