Abstract

The present paper embodies the results of a survey conducted on oribatid mites inhabiting coconut palm cultivated in and around the Calicut University Campus of Malappuram District, Kerala, South India. The survey revealed the occurrence of a number of oribatid mites belonging to several genera, mainly on the foliage. Among the different species collected, one new species of Uracrobates is described. The genus Uracrobates is being reported for the first time from India.
