Abstract

The morphology of adult and juvenile stages of 11 species of the ceratozetid subfamily Sphaerozetinae was investigated in order to explain systematic relationships of genera and species. The genera Ghilarovizetes, Melanozetes and Fuscozetes form well-defined Melanozetes group which differs morphologically from Edwardzetes and Sphaerozetes. The losses of some notogastral setae in adult of Melanozetes group were established and a hipothetical development of this group of mites is proposed.
