Abstract

A new genus and two new species of mites (Astigmata) are described from the sand: Namibacarus sabulosus n. g., n. sp. (Suidasiidae) found in the sand in Namib Desert (Namibia) and Sapracarus arenicola n. sp. (Sapracaridae) from the sand of the Mediterranean coast near Montpellier, France. The subfamily Sapracarinae is raised to the family rank.
