Abstract

A new arboreal species of the oribatid mite family Achipteriidae is proposed, based on adults collected from arboreal microhabitats, primarily lichens, in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State. Anachipteria sacculifera n. sp. is only the second member of the genus known to have an octotaxic system composed of saccules.
