Abstract
A new species, Oribatula dentata sp. nov., is proposed for the oribatid mite previously recorded as O. macrostega sensu Iturrondobeitia (1985). This new species is characterised by prominent, bidentate lamellar cusps. The possibility of O. longelamellata Schweizer, 1956 and O. macrostega Iturrondobeitia, 1985 being conspecific was also investigated and complementary data on both these species are provided.
