Abstract

Described is Ixoodes ( Endopalpiger) zaglossi n. sp. off the long-beaked echidna, Zaglossus bruijni, Wissel Lakes, Dutch New Guinea. Holotype female, allotype male, and paratype females deposited in the Australian Museum, Sydney; paratype females also deposited in the Rocky Mountain Laboratory, Hamilton, Montana. The new species is compared with I. (E.) steini Schulze, I. (E.) luxuriosus Schulze, and I. (E.) tasmani Neumann.
