Abstract

Thirty-seven species of chiggers, including 17 new, and a new genus, Fereus, are recorded. New species and their type hosts are: Odontacarus kofordi off Chinchillula sahamae, Doloista inca off Oryzomys keaysi, Fereus bisetifer off Thomasomys sp., Euschongastia euryphylla off Oryzomys keaysi, Eus. frondosa off Phyllotis phaeus, Eus. herniosa off Lagidium peruanum, Eus. insolita off Phyllotis phaeus, Eus. reversa off Hesperomys ducilla, Eus. tryssa off Proechimys hendeei, Eus. wenzeli off Oryzomys keaysi, Trombicula chaetosa off Tropidurus peruvianus, T. cuzcoensis off Oryzomys keaysi, T. macrochaeta off Neotomys ebriosus, T. oligochaeta off Proechimys hendeei, T. olympia off Phyllotis phaeus, T. quintangula off Phyllotis sp., T . sternalis off Ctenomys peruanus. A key to species and new figures for Neotrombicula shannoni are given.
