Abstract

Six valid species of pyemotid mites have been associated with commercial mushrooms: Pygmephorus mesembrinae Canestrini, P. tarsalis Hirst, P . quadratus Krczal, P. allmanni Krczal, P. lambi Krczal, and Dolichocybe keiferi Krantz. Three new species of pyemotid mites associated with mushroom production are described: Pygmephorus flechtmanni from Brazil; P . kneeboni from Temple, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.; and P. athiasae from France.
