Abstract

One new· genus and 9 new species of Stigmaeidae are recorded from the British Salomon Islands. The fauna includes the following species: Stigmaeus solomonensis sp. nov., S . impressus sp. nov., S. temtis sp. nov., S. seminudus sp. nov., S. perplexus sp. nov., Apostigmaeus navicella Grandjean, A . pacificus Summers, Ledermuelleria brevirostris sp. nov., L. mollis sp. nov., L. mixta ·wood, Cheylostigmaetts nûrabilis sp. nov. and Mendanaia longisetis sp. et gen. nov. The fauna appears to be impoverished both in numbers of species and numbers of individuals and only two species, S . solomensis and S. tenuis, appear to be widely distributed.
