Abstract

Phytoseiulus macropilis (Acarina: Phytoseiidae) occurs on a variety of plants infested by spider mites and false spider mites in Hawaii. It is present in field in large numbers during August-September. The population of the prey increases rapidly when predators are absent and declines when they are present on the plants. In absence of food, the adults of P. macropilis feed on their own immature stages.
