1977 - Volume: 19 Issue: 3 pages: 414-416
A simple technique ta assess population of the brown wheat mite, Petrobia latens (Muller) on wheat plants was evolved taking into account the peculiar habits of the mite and the methods employed by other workers. It consists of tapping the plants over glycerine smeared microscope slides held in a thermocole sampler at ground level. The slides are taken to laboratory for counting the mites under a binocular. The method has been successfully employed in chemical control and varietal resistance studies against this pest.
