Parapyroppia new genus Spain

Abstract

Parapyroppia, a new genus belonging in the family Metrioppiidae is described. Its chief characters are: monodactyle tarsi, striated lamellae and spindle-shaped sensilli. The distal end of each sensillus wears a setaceous prolongation as in the species of Liacarus. P. monodactyla, type of the genus, is described. It looks like a Pyroppia but it is easily distinguished by many characters. This species lives in the litter at the Sierra de Cazorla (Province of Jaen, Spain) . Some comments are made on the family Metrioppiidae.
