Abstract

Species described bу Nathan Banks in the oribatid mite genera ВегЬа and Oribata аге discussed. ВеlЬа australis, В. floridana, В. minuta, Oribata consimilis, О . neosota and О . perolata аге not members of the Damaeidae. Oribata carolinensis is designated type-species of Dyobelba n. gen.; О. diversipes is а synonym. Protobelba n. subg. is proposed as а subgenus of ВегЬа, with О. callfornicus as type. Akrodamaeus n. subg. is proposed as а subgenus of Epidamaeus, with О . longiseta as type. Вегbа inaequipes is recombined to Epidamaeus (Аkrodamaeus) inaequipes. Oribata canadensis is recombined to Epidamaeus (Е.) canadensis.
