Coevolution of feather mites and their hosts
1980 - Volume: 21 Issue: 2 pages: 291-306
Co-evolution des acariens sarcoptiformes plumicoles ет de leurs hotes. - Feather mites are obligatory parasites of birds; they are transmitted Ьу direct contact between birds of the same species, generally from parents to offspring. Feather mites show а wide range of parasitic specificities, but in general the host specificities are marked with each order of birds having а distinct acarofauna. We present examples of host-parasite associations that demonstrate co-evolution, facts showing that со-еvоlutiоп has been imperfect and finally we give some obvious exceptions which тау appear less аstопisсhiпg when we have а better uпdегstаnrliпg of the biology ()f feather mites.
