Abstract

Records and taxonomic notes are given for 6 species of eriophyoid mites recently found in Egypt. These include Phytocoptella niloticus sp. n., but in this Review Phytocoptella is regarded as a synonym of Phytoptus, which is described as new from the adult female collected on the grass Imperata cylindrica, and is the first record of a member of this genus from Egypt; and Abacarus hystrix (Nal.) on Cynodon dactylon, Cisaberoptus kenyae Keifer on mango and Aculus schlechtendali (Nal.) on apple, all of which were recorded for the first time in Egypt.
