Abstract

Globulencyrtus politus Hoffer, 1973 (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae, Discodini) is the first hymenopteran parasitoid recorded from actinotrichid mites. The other hymenopteran parasitoids of Acari attack only ixodoid ticks (Acari: Actinotrichida) and belong to a different tribe of the Encyrtidae, the Ixodiphagini. We present here preliminary observations on the level of parasitism and mode of oviposition in G. politus.
