Abstract

Geckobia enigmatica n. sp. was collected from the tortoise Geochelone yniphova on captive-born animals after their reintroduction to native areas in Madagascar. Though the genus Geckobia is considered as highly specialised on Gekkonidae, this presence reveals they can survive on alternative hosts. Euryxeny or stenoxeny are discussed ill the light of morphological characters of species, and our knowledge of the different genera of Pterygosomatidae.
